Rain gardens are quickly becoming a popular project among individuals, organizations, and jurisdictions concerned with water quality and quantity. Not only are rain gardens beautiful and easy to maintain, they are also highly effective at filtering pollution out of stormwater runoff and slowing the flow of runoff into local creeks and rivers.
Rain Dog Designs, created and run by David Hymel and Marilyn Jacobs, has been collaborating with local jurisdictions and organizations to install over 165 rain garden projects since its inception in 2009. The company specializes in landscaping services focusing on rain garden education, design and installation.
Notable projects Rain Dog Designs collaborated on include Puyallup’s 8th Avenue NW “Street of Green,” the Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) Rain Garden, and the groundbreaking industrial rain garden Totem Ocean Trailer Express (TOTE) in Tacoma. They also do small residential rain gardens such as the one pictured below.
